Image of an emergency sign at Oral Solutions NW. Most of you might think that an emergency has to involve an ambulance. Well, that is true according to our interactions in the society. A dental emergency in this context involves uncontrollable dental hemorrhage following dental procedures, a trauma that affects the dental arches, and any kind of swelling around your mouth or throat. All these issues are considered dental emergencies and they require a specialist's attention as soon as you see any symptoms of it. Surprisingly, even a normal toothache falls under the category. There are things you are supposed to do in the case of such emergencies either to relieve the pain or reduce the effects or even to get rid of it. Here are some of the things you might want to do.

How do you know if it is an emergency

Not all cases need a doctor's intervention. However, in the case of serious dental injuries, you may need to see a dentist immediately. If you lose one or more teeth, have mouth injury, absence of a tooth, or unmanageable pain from your mouth, you will use the services of one of our dentists. These problems might lead to even worse situations if not cared for immediately. Cases like minor chipped teeth or broken braces are things that can wait until your next dental appointment, but it is advisable to talk to your dentist for instructions.

What should you do

The first thing that comes to mind in this case, is calling your dentist. However, in some situations, we might not have your gadgets with us or any other issues that might delay the process. Let us take the case where you have your teeth knocked out, what should you do before seeing the dentist? The first aid process is always important for saving and preserving the tooth. In this case, you are advised to put the tooth in milk, then cover the socket where the tooth came from with a cotton ball or a tea bag. If you have a chipped or broken tooth, you are supposed to rinse and save the tooth pieces if possible. After doing this, you are supposed to contact our dentist for advice on where to seek care. Our numbers are always open to any inquiries at any time.
